The Dental Board of California licenses and regulates over 100,000 licensees; consisting of dentists (DDS), registered dental assistants (RDA), and registered dental assistants in extended functions (RDAEF). In addition, the Board has the responsibility for setting the duties and functions of unlicensed dental assistants. The Board’s highest priority is the protection of the public when exercising its licensing, regulatory, and disciplinary functions. The primary methods by which the Board achieves this goal are: issuing licenses to eligible applicants; investigating complaints against licensees and disciplining licensees for violations of the Dental Practice Act; monitoring licensees whose licenses have been placed on probation; and managing the Diversion Program for licensees whose practice may be impaired due to abuse of dangerous drugs or alcohol.
The California Board Of Dental Examiners oversees licensed individuals who provide dental services within the state. You can contact the board if you have questions or need to renew your California dentist license. The state dental board also accepts complaints against licensed and unlicensed individuals, investigates allegations, and takes disciplinary actions for violations of law. The goal of the California board of dentistry is to protect the oral health, safety and welfare of citizens.
We suggest to check out the state dental board website as they may now offer online services such as filing a complaint, to see if a licensee needs to renew a license or make a name or address change, to see if an applicant is seeking a permit or license or if a consumer is trying to find out information about an California licensed dentist. You can visit their site online.
