Oklahoma Board of DentistryThe Oklahoma State Dental Board was established to ensure that every dentist and dental hygienist practicing in this state meets minimum requirements for safe practice. The practice of these professions is a privilege granted by the State. The Board of Dental Examiners is responsible for licensure, monitoring and ensuring the safe practice of dentists and dental hygienists in their service to the people of Oklahoma.

The mission of the Oklahoma State Board of Dentistry is to promote, protect, and provide public health and safety to the citizens of Oklahoma by regulating the practice of Dentistry, Dental Hygiene, Dental Assisting, and the fabrication of dental appliances in dental laboratories by enforcing laws, rules, and policies.  The Board will ensure ethical, competent and moral character of all licensees or permit holders.  The Board will provide all resources to accomplish its goals and objectives.

The Board of Dental Examiners is responsible for the protection of the public by governing and regulating the practice of dentistry and dental hygiene in Oklahoma. The Board examines, licenses, and registers applicants whom it finds qualified to practice dentistry and dental hygiene. The Board also makes and amends reasonable rules and regulations governing the conduct of all dental examiners.

The Oklahoma State Dental Board oversees licensed individuals who provide dental services within the state. The state dental board also accepts complaints against licensed and unlicensed individuals, investigates allegations, and takes disciplinary actions for violations of law. The goal of the Oklahoma board of dentistry is to protect the oral health, safety and welfare of citizens.

The Board of Dental Health Care and the Dental Hygienist Committee oversees the practice of dentistry, dental hygiene, dental assisting, expanded function dental auxiliary, and community dental health coordinator in Oklahoma. The board sets professional and educational standards to obtain and maintain licenses for dentist, dental hygiene, dental assistants, expanded function dental auxiliary, and community dental health coordinator practicing in Oklahoma.

The board also investigates complaints from the public about unprofessional or unethical conduct, and takes disciplinary action when required.
